COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Bowling Green redshirt senior Aliyah Gustafson just missed getting into the finals of the women’s shot put at the Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships, placing 10th at Texas A&M.
Gustafson, who was seeded eighth entering the event, finished with a best throw of 53 feet, 10½ inches.
The school record holder in the event, Gustafson won the event Feb. 24 in the MAC Indoor Championships. She was the first BG athlete to qualify for the national meet since Stephanie Heldt competed in the high jump in 2001. Gustafson is the third athlete all time to represent the school at the national event.
