The University of Toledo football team will have a nonconference game Sept. 2, 2023, at Illinois, the school announced Thursday.
The game at Memorial Stadium will be the first-ever matchup between the teams.
Toledo also has scheduled a 2019 game at Kentucky, a 2020 game at Michigan State, a 2021 game at Notre Dame, and a 2022 game at Ohio State.
"The Illinois game adds another quality opponent to our future nonconference football schedule," UT vice president and athletic director Mike O'Brien said in a release.
"Over the next few years we will play three teams from the Big Ten, as well as Kentucky and Notre Dame. These are exciting games for our players and are also close enough for our fans to attend in large numbers."
The Rockets open next season Sept. 1 with a home game against Virginia Military Institute.
