To the editor: Giuliani is getting facts straight?

5/9/2018

Recently, President Donald Trump said this about his new attorney, Rudy Guiliani: “He’s new on the job. He’s getting his facts straight.”

Perhaps what Mr. Trump really meant was: “He’s getting his story straight.”

Facts are something you know. Or, if you don’t know, you can find them out. And there are a number of ways to do that. A “story,” on the other hand, is entirely different. A story is something you tell people so that they will say: “Oh really?” or “Wow! I didn’t know that.”

The word “spin” comes to mind.

Pernicious robocalls

According to a May 7 article in The Blade, “Robocalls soar, grow harder to combat,” the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is going to clarify and decide on new rules to assist the population with limiting robocalls? What a joke.

The FCC is an inert group of toothless government hacks whose effectiveness can be measured by the astronomical increase of robocalls calls.

My family pays for caller ID, which is our only defense despite our number being registered on the “do not call” list.

Can Trump change the world?

At a recent ceremony in the Rose Garden of the White House, President Donald Trump said he is responsible for people saying “Merry Christmas” more.

Could taking credit for the sun rising in the East and setting in the West be far behind?
