To the editor: Back our presidents, but do what is right

7/12/2018

OBJECTI didn’t vote for President Obama, but, once elected, he should have had the full backing of Americans. I didn’t vote for Trump, but since he was elected he should also get the support of the American people. I’m neither Democrat or Republican. I’m for whoever can keep us strong and wealthy as a nation.

I, too, believe separating immigrant children from parents is a non-starter. I’m also tired of paying for undocumented immigrants. I have a solution: let all those sniveling and whining about the immigrants sponsor a family and they can come live with you. You feed them and pay for their medical care, clothing, and schooling.

Getting rid of lead is an expensive process

The process described in Jeff Savage’s letter to the editor on June 30 will also need to follow the Lead Abatement Laws (June 30, “To the editor: Lead ordinance should apply to all homes”). The lead dust will be the in the air everywhere when these houses are demolished. This will need to be contained and certified lead abatement technicians will need to do this work. This will be a very expensive operation if the laws are abided.

Local media should have covered Special Olympics

I would like to you know how disappointed I am that The Blade had no coverage of the Special Olympics being held in Seattle this week. The local TV stations did not cover any of it either. You would think in this day and age some good news would be nice to hear and see. ESPN did cover only one hour every day and it was just a recap of the day.

My nephew from Monroe, Mich., was in the games and my sister was fortunately able to attend to get some pictures and news for all of us.

Shame on local media for not taking an interest in such a wonderful opportunity for these families.
