South Toledo man accused of making threat against Mercy Health employee
11/14/2017A South Toledo man is accused of making a terrorist threat against a Mercy Health employee last month after she asked for his co-payment.
Jack A. Morris, 57, of the 500 block of Broadway Street, is charged with making a terroristic threat to intimidate or coerce, a third-degree felony.
An employee at Mercy Health St. Anne’s Hospital requested Mr. Morris’ co-payment of $3.30 on Oct. 5, according to documents filed in Toledo Municipal Court.
Mr. Morris reportedly told the employee that he should buy a gun and shoot the people that take his money, court documents show. He said he could not afford the payment, and the employee feared harm to herself and others in the facility, according to records.
A spokesman for Mercy Health declined to comment due to the pending case.
Mr. Morris was arrested Monday by Toledo police, according to a Lucas County jail booking document.
He was arraigned in Toledo Municipal Court Tuesday, where Judge Robert Christiansen set bond at $50,000. Mr. Morris is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 21.
