Police say a North Toledo woman accused of setting a detached garage on fire bribed a witness involved in the case.

Mayshyia A. Davis, 31, of the 2000 block of Walnut Street, is charged with bribery, a third-degree felony. She was arrested this week by Toledo police and was booked into the Lucas County jail. She is accused of offering to pay $1,000 to a witness in the arson case against her — giving the person $500, court records show.

Ms. Davis was arraigned on the most recent charge in Toledo Municipal Court, where bond was set at $10,000.

She was charged with arson — a fourth-degree felony — in April based on accusations she set a detached garage on fire, court records show.

The garage, located in the 2900 block of Elm Street, and a vehicle were destroyed, according to an affidavit filed in Toledo Municipal Court.
