BLADE STAFF

It’s time for Operation Cookie.

Toledo-area Girl Scout troops will set up booths at The Town Center at Levis Commons, local Walmart stores, and Jo-Ann Fabrics to sell Girl Scout Cookies and request donations to send boxes of cookies to U.S. military members around the world.

Girl Scouts of Western Ohio’s Operation Cookie program has donated more than $1 million worth of cookies to the men and woman of the nation’s armed forces in the 13 years it has been participating. From Friday to Sunday, Girl Scout troops hope to collect 1,000 cookie donations.

Girl Scout Cookies are distributed in care packages year-round to the Ohio Air National Guard’s 180th Fighter Wing, as well as to other local military families and veterans, through a partnership with Toledo’s Heroes in Action.

People looking to donate cookies as part of the Operation Cookie Challenge can donate via cash or credit card at local cookie booths or online through Digital Cookie. To find a booth in your community, visit gswo.org/cookies and enter your zip code into the Girl Scout Cookie Finder or download the Girl Scout Cookie Finder app.
