Toledo Fire & Rescue receives $15K in grant money

Toledo Fire & Rescue was one of 75 Ohio fire departments that will share $745,000 in grants from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation under a program to protect firefighters from carcinogens and other harmful elements encountered during a firefight, according to a release from BWC.

The fire departments are receiving the funding under BWC’s Firefighter Exposure to Environmental Elements Grant Program, which helps departments purchase safety gear, exhaust systems, and specialized washing machines, the release stated.

Toldeo was granted $15,000 to purchase 519 protective hoods, according to the release.
