Lucas County corrections officer cited with OVI

A Lucas County jail corrections officer was recently cited for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Alunte Edwards was stopped Feb. 6 at 11:24 p.m. on Airport Highway near Spring Meadows Drive in Springfield Township, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol’s Toledo post.

A patrol spokesman would not say what led to the stop and if Ms. Edwards took a breathalyzer test. Sylvania Municipal Court records show officials charged her with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and a red-light violation.

Officer Edwards, a sheriff’s employee for less than a year, remained on duty Monday. The case is pending investigation, according to internal affairs.
