DETROIT — More than two years ago, when a Lansing-area member of Congress named Elissa Slotkin announced she was going to run for the U.S. Senate, one of the first to endorse her was Haley Stevens, who like her, was first elected to Congress in 2018.

For the past several years, members of the Perrysburg Exchange Club have been volunteering to assist a local nonprofit called Let’s Build, also known as Let’s Build Beds. This is a charity dedicated to working to ensure that no child in the area is without a bed and forced to sleep on the floor. The organization is run by Mike Horvath and his wife, Shawna, both of whom spend many hours working, above and beyond their regular full-time jobs, volunteering to try to accomplish that goal. Unfortunately, they have reported having a constant waiting list of 600 families requesting beds for their kids, in spite of the production and distribution of almost 2,000 beds every year.

As the congressional midterm elections loom, I have questions for the voters. At one of President Trump’s rallies he said that we Americans would grow so tired of winning that we would probably say Mr. President please no more winning we’re tired of it. Well my question is this. Are you tired of winning at the gas pumps, the grocery store, or almost any store for that matter? Are you tired of winning at your pharmacy, the car dealerships, the health insurance companies? Are you tired of winning the tariff wars with our allies? Are you tired of winning America’s excursions into foreign countries? Are you tired of his lying, his disregard for the Constitution, all of his self glorification, his basic lack of ethics, morality, perhaps most of all his ignorance and lack of concern for the ordinary Americans trying to provide for their families. If none of this matters to you by all means continue to vote for his sycophants that lack the backbone to stand up to the charlatan in the White House.
