  • The Tigers will open spring training Feb. 13, which means baseball season is coming. Here is a daily look at players with possible ties to the 2018 Mud Hens, whose home opener is set for April 12 vs. Pawtucket.

    OF Jim Adduci

History: The Tigers signed Adduci to a minor-league contract before the 2017 season, after the 32-year-old played in Korea the previous two years. Adduci batted .349 with the Mud Hens to start last season and earned a promotion to Detroit, where he batted .318 before suffering an oblique injury that knocked him out of action until July. He finished the season hitting .288 with four homers and 27 RBIs in 55 games with Toledo, and batted .241 with one homer and 10 RBIs in 29 games with the Tigers.

Future: Adduci will get a shot to compete for a job with the Tigers in spring training. If he does not make Detroit’s roster, he is expected to return to the Mud Hens and spend time in the outfield while also serving as a designated hitter.
