Ohio's March jobless rate unchanged at 5.1%

Ohio’s unemployment in March was 5.1 percent, unchanged from February, a report today shows.

The state Department of Job and Family Services said the number of unemployed last month was 294, the same as the month before. But the number employed declined by 4,100.

Job losses were in trade, transportation, and utilities (down 6,000), professional and business services (down 3,800), and leisure and hospitality (down 2,800), the report shows. There were job gains in educational and health services (up 6,300) and other services (up 900).

The Ohio jobless rate in March 2016 was 5 percent. The national unemployment last month was 4.5 percent, down from 4.7 percent the month before.
