Two people were shot Monday in central Toledo, authorities said.

Leonard Richardson and Javontay Johnson, whose age was not released, were taken to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center, where they were released after treatment, according to Toledo police.

Police said officers responding to a report of a person shot at Kimball Avenue and Arcadia Avenue, arrived about 6:20 p.m. and found the victims at a residence in the 3200 block of Maplewood Avenue, about six blocks away, each suffering from gunshot wounds to a leg.

The victims told police they were walking near Arcadia Avenue and North Detroit Avenue when they heard gunshots and realized they were shot, according to a police statement. They told police they did not know who shot them.

Police said the victims then ran to the Maplewood location, where police later recovered a firearm they believe was tossed by Mr. Johnson. He was later arrested on undisclosed charges.
